Meaning "little devil" the Diawl Bach started off as popular Welsh fly pattern but has been tweaked and now is used in all British still waters. An appropriate pattern to use when the fish are feeding on midge pupae or if you are looking for general nymph to cover lots of different food forms for the Trout.

This pattern was given to me many years ago by the then Army Captain Alan Ward it is particularly good on sunny days.

A particularly effective method is to let the wind push the floating fly line around and look for a twitch in the line as indication that a fish has taken the fly.

Extremely successful for all kinds of trout on small and large still Waters.

Especially good at Rutland Water,Grafham Water, Chew and Lake of Menteith
