Over the years, the booby fly has received some mixed reviews, often criticized for being cast out and left on the bottom while fish hook themselves. While this method can be effective, I personally prefer more active techniques.
The booby fly remains one of the best trout flies I’ve ever used. It can be fished with a floating line or a fast-sinking line, either as part of a team of flies or on its own. I genuinely believe it’s an essential addition to any angler’s box.
