Blobs
While blobs may not be everyone’s top choice, they are undeniably effective flies. A common misconception is that they need to be retrieved quickly. In reality, one of the most successful techniques is to fish them very slowly or even static. Placing a blob on the top dropper, paired with imitative patterns behind it, can create a powerful attractor effect.
We tie our blobs on a Kamasan B130 Size 8 Hook. Some people question that this is too big however the reason we use it is because it is a short shank hook, so it is actually the same size shank as a B175 Size 10 but it has a much wide gape so you get a bigger clearance for the fritz of the blob pattern and in turn get a better hook up.
