Testing New Pattern Designs at Tan-y-Mynydd Trout Fishery

Visited a local small water where I spent a lot of time fishing as a child tonight. The plan to try some new dry patterns for small waters. Tan Y Mynnyd trout fishery is only 5 minutes from where I live but I have not fished there for a long time. After so much competition fishing it was nice to go with just an 8 foot 6 rod with a 5 wt floater to fish drys. I really enjoyed my evening, fishing into the dark just how I remember it as a child and always saying to my mum one last cast – tonight brought back a lot of memories and reminded me why I love fly fishing so much!

Fishing with fiery brown bob bits and small balloon sedges, skating them or static as the evening wore on was the best method.
